January 2, 2004 - Bradford
Tri-Village visited Bradford tonight... and the Railroaders struggled to find someone who could put the ball in the hole giving the Patriots an easy 60-20 victory. This was a game that allowed Coach Falknor the opportunity to play his entire team. By freely substituting throughout the game it gives the regulars fresh legs for tomorrow night when Fairlawn comes visiting to New Madison. Fairlawn is a tough Shelby County League opponent and gave Ansonia all they could handle last week.
The Patriots opened the first quarter scoring 12 points with four Patriots scoring in the quarter while holding Bradford scoreless. Derek Ary and Sam Lindamood led the way with 4 points each.
The second quarter was almost a repeat of the first but Bradford would finally get on the scoreboard with a free throw at the 3:44 mark. In the period the Patriots would get a number of easy baskets in the paint by Jay and Lindamood including an alley oop from Burns to Lindamood. The big basket of the quarter was a steal by Corey Jay who went three quarters of the court throwing down a two handed dunk that brought the crowd to their feet. Jay lead the way in the quarter with 8 points while Lindamood chipped in 6... and Tri-Village took a 30-1 lead into the locker room at half time.
In the third quarter Tri-Village was led by Senior Josh Bailey who scored 6 points hitting 3 jumpers off cuts in the lane from 12 feet. The big play that was not to be happened just as time was running out in the quarter. Senior Nic Brant made a steal and after being tripped and falling down he was able to throw up the ball from 35 feet hitting off the back of the rim and falling through the basket bringing the crowd to their feet again. But it was for not as the officials waved it off for hitting the top of the backboard, but it was a nice effort by Nic and the Patriots lead 45-8 after three quarters.
In the final stanza Bradford would get their biggest offensive production exceeding the previous three quarters with 12 points and Tri-Village left town with a 60-20 victory.
The bright spot of the game was the team free throw shooting as Tri-Village made 14 on 19 attempts. In big games free throw shooting can be the difference between winning or losing. For the second game in a row the Patriots put four players in double figures in scoring with Sam Lindamood leading the way with 12, Derek Ary 11, Corey Jay 10 and Josh Bailey 10 points.
