December 19, 2003 - New Madison

Make it two wins in a row for Tri-Village as they grounded the Jets 57-36. On this night it would be Cameron Quinn stepping up and playing solid on the inisde grabbing rebounds and providing the inside scoring. It was a night that Corey Jay would be foul prone and saw limited action. But Quinn filled in nicely and gave the Patriots it's fourth different player in five games to lead them in scoring.

The game would start slow and Franklin Monroe found it difficult handling the basketball. Kyler Burns found the three point range early in the quarter, buried two and another field goal giving the Patriots a 12-2 lead forcing Coach Feitshans to call a timeout with 4:00 minutes to play in the quarter. The time out was a chance for the Jets to re-group, they came out with a press sticking almost five people in the box up to half court. The press didn't force many turnovers but slowed the Patriots offense a bit, allowing Franklin Monroe to cut into the lead... and they found themselves trailing 16-9 at the end of quarter one.

In the second quarter both teams started slowly on offense with Tri-Village's Quinn scoring a 3 the old fashioned way on a bucket and a foul at the 5:32 mark. The Jets would answer with their first field goal at the 4:30 mark in the quarter and the Patriot lead was just 19-11. Franklin Monroe continued to shut the Patriot offense down due to playing a box and one defense with a man shadowing Kyler Burns. By slowing down the hot hand of Burns, FM appeared to be working their way back into the game and at 3:00 minutes had gotten to within six points 21-15. But the play of Quinn and sophomore Lindamood kept the Jets from getting any closer. Lindamood knocked down two buckets, Quinn added another and senior Derek Ary would hit a big 3 at the buzzer to end the half, Tri-Village leading 28-18.

In the third quarter Quinn would start off as before with an easy two footer and Kyler Burns would shake loose for another 3 pointer and Tri-Village was out to a 33-18 lead at the 6:12 mark. Another Burns 3 in the quarter along with a few more baskets by Quinn and Derek Ary and the Patriots are leading FM at the end of the quarter 43-26. Franklin Monroe would not score a field goal in the quarter until 1:18 left to play finding itself down at the time 43-19, the largest deficit of the night, but they played hard... and closed the gap slightly.

The fourth quarter was a repeat of the previous 3 quarters, Franklin Monroe finding it hard to generate much offense and the Patriots cruised to the victory 57-36.

Tri-Village picks up the much needed conference win and will next play in the Jet Holiday Tournament taking place at Franklin Monroe Friday December 26 and Saturday December 27, 2003. Tri-Village will face the monumental challenge of going up against the Versailles Tigers in a first round matchup. Versailles is loaded with talent and the Patriots will need to bring their "A" game and as much intensity as they can muster, it should be a great game.
