January 10, 2004 - New Madison

Tonight the Patriots were facing the Northridge Polar Bears in a non conference matchup looking to get back in to the win column after last night's loss to Trail. The second half would turn into a foul marred game with 27 fouls called 14-13 between the two teams. The Patriots would convert more free throws and make fewer mistakes in the final quarter taking the win 70-52.

Both teams struggled in the first quarter, Burns got it started with a trey and would add another in the quarter leading the Patriots with 8 points and an 11-7 lead after one.

In the second quarter the Patriots would build a lead on the inside play of Corey Jay scoring 10 points. Four of his baskets were put backs off rebounds, the last one at 48 seconds giving the Patriots a 27-21 lead. But Tri-Village would allow Northridge back into the game when they scored the next four points including a full length of the court layup as time expired.

In the third period Burns would again start the Patriots off with a trey. Jay would continue his inside play while getting scoring from Derek Ary, Cameron Quinn and Josh Fisherback. The whistles were heating up and Tri-Village sent Northridge to the line 7 times making only 7 of 15 and the Patriots lead 45-37.

Northridge wouldn't go away at 7:11 in the final stanza they were within four points 45-41. In the final period both teams would both end up at the free throw line seven times each. Tri-Village won the battle converting 13 of 15 versus 3 of 9 for Northridge winning it going away 70-52. Tri-Village was led tonight by Corey Jay with 24 points and Kyler Burns with 21 points.

It wasn't a pretty game and at times the Patriots looked like they were going through the motions. They will need to be ready next week as they face conference foe Mississinawa Valley Friday and non conference opponent St. Henry Saturday, both away games. MV plays hard and aggressively on defense and will be looking to knock off the Patriots.

In the junior varsity contest Tri-Village would record their 3 win in 4 games with Josh Pipenger scoring16, Ryan Snyder 15 and Daniel Foreman with 14.
