New Madison February 4, 2005
It was senior night for winter sports with Tri-County North Panthers paying a visit. There were 3 cheerleaders and 5 basketball players taking part in the festivities tonight in the conference match up. It would be a memorable night for all 8 of them as Tri-Village was able to record a 49-31 victory.
Tri-County North would prove to be a stubborn opponent in the opening quarter with Tri-Village playing catch up throughout. Corey Jay would give the PATS the lead 10-9 with 1:02 to play but two straight baskets by Baumbarger for North gave them 13-10 first quarter lead.
In the second quarter TV would pick up their defensive effort trapping TCN in the corners and forcing a number of turnovers. Sam Lindamood and company took advantage as Lindamood score nine points in the quarter including two treys. When Cameron Quinn beat the buzzer off a rebound and the PATS enjoyed a 27-16 halftime lead.
Lindamood would pick up where he left off going for 10 more points in the third quarter. Senior Ryan Snyder was able to get a couple of inside scores making it 4 of 5 seniors who would score on this night. Tri-Village was able to hold the Panthers to just 6 points in the quarter while scoring 16 of their own. None were more impressive then Sam Lindamood two points with 2.2 seconds left to go in the quarter. He took a lead pass on the break and with a Tri-County North defender running by him he was able to go over the top of him throwing down a monster two handed jam that brought the crowd to their feet and silenced the Panther crowd.
The final stanza would be a low scoring event as TCN continued to struggle against the Patriot zone as they rode the defense to victory and a 6-3 league standing and an overall record of 8-9 looking to get to 500 tomorrow night when they travel to West Alexandria to take on Twin Valley South.
Sam Lindamood paced the Patriots with 19 points followed by Corey Jay with 10.
In the Junior Varsity contest Tri-Village was able to get the win with Mark Wheeler leading the way with 12 points.
Good luck to the 8 seniors and all the other seniors who embark on their future dreams as they depart from Tri-Village High School.
