Union City – February 10, 2005
Tri-Village traveled across the border to take on the Union City Indians, a team with a 11-4 record on the season. The Patriots were able to hand them their 5th loss while taking the border battle raising their record to 9-10 with one regular season game left. They will visit Bethel in the final conference match-up tomorrow night with the goal of getting to 500 on the season.

The Indians got on the board first with a trey but… two Corey Jay baskets inside both off rebounds got them an early lead 4-3. Union City answered with a deuce, but TV went on an 8 point run to go up 12-5. Union City finished the quarter as they opened it with a trey trailing 12-8. Jay led the way in the quarter with 8 points.

Ryan Snyder opened the second quarter with a stickback for two followed by a Daniel Foreman three. Union City packed in their defense trying to shut down the inside game but Foreman stepped up with a stickback basket and then on a give and go from Jay put in a lay-up to give the PATS a 24-10 lead. The Indians answered with a 5-point run of their own but… TV was able to garner a 26-17, halftime lead.

The third period found both teams trading baskets, when the Indians stole the ball at 1:37 for a fast break basket they had pulled to within 5 points 35-30. On the next possession they would foul Josh Fisherback on his three-point attempt sending him to the free throw line. He was able to convert all 3 of them stopping their momentum. The PATS followed it up with another inside score by Jay and then a dramatic shot for two by Lindamood while falling down at the buzzer expanded their lead 42-30.

The final stanza would see both teams score often but it would be the inside play and solid free throw shooting that would prove to be the difference. UC brought the defensive pressure trapping and hacking if they couldn’t get a steal. The Patriots took advantage as they converted 12-15 throws in the final period and 18-23 for the game securing a 66 – 49 win.

Corey Jay paced the Patriots with 27 points, 17 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Sam Lindamood went for 13 points and Daniel Foreman added 9 with numerous assists.
