Aaron Brown scored 20 points in the JV contest to lead the Patriots for the second night in a row.

NEW MADISON - Tri-Village was facing a tough non-conference opponent in the Northeastern Jets tonight who entered the contest undefeated while T-V had just one blemish.

The Jets boasted a big front line and much like the Patriots run a very patient offense.

In the first quarter things were looking good as T-V got off to a fast start with Daniel Foreman scoring seven of his game high 15 points. Sam Lindamood hit Mark Wheeler filling the lane on a fast break for a lay-up to end the quarter with the Patriots in control 14-8.

The second quarter both teams showed good patience trying to break down the solid defense each team was playing. Mark Wheeler gave the team a lift with 5 points in the quarter as the Patriots struggled to put the ball in the hole. Despite this they still held the lead at the half 21-18.

In the third period the offensive woes continued for both teams. David Barger put two in on the block to start the second half and Sam Lindamood and Daniel Foreman both added a goal to help maintain T-V’s slim three-point lead at the end of three 27-24.

Northeastern jumped all over T-V in the final stanza tying the game up at 6:44. They followed that up with two straight scores from their big guy inside including an old fashioned three and at 4:50 led 32-27.

Tri-Village showed even more patience on the offensive end looking for the good high percentage shot. The execution was good but the ability to finish wasn’t. The Patriots missed a number of point blank range shots. “I’m not sure what happened,” said Coach Sagester. “Maybe it was their size inside, their length and big bodies that bothered us as we missed a number of easy shots.”

Unable to counter Tri-Village began to foul the Jets to try and get back into the contest. Northeastern, much like T-V yesterday was able to hit their free throws down the stretch going 12-for-18. The end result was a 45-36 victory. Northeastern shot 18-for-28 for the game compared to just 5-for-9 for Tri-Village.

“We didn’t finish the game letting it slip away in the second half, I mean we hold a team to just 45 points…and that is misleading with all the free throws at the end, and we can’t score more than 36 points.” It’s hard to win basketball games like that, said a disappointed coach Sagester. “We shot 5-for-24 in the second half with only two shots further than 15’,” added Sagester.

The loss drops Tri-Village to 4-2 on the season. “It hurts but hey they are a 5-0 team, said Sagester… and we are still 3-0 in the conference.”

Tri-Village will take on another Jets team next Friday when Cross County Conference rival Franklin Monroe comes to town. For those who can’t attend there will be a live webcast of the game.
