Taylor Brubaker and the Patriots couldn't take advantage of opportunities down the stretch and fell in overtime to Northridge.

New Madison – The Tri-Village boy’s basketball team was playing their 3rd game in 4 nights and looking to finish the season on a strong note.

Things were looking good after one quarter of play but someone forgot to tell the Northridge Polar Bears.

Northridge was looking to notch a win to validate their program enjoying the best season they’ve had since the late 70’s and early 80’s.

T-V played good team basketball in the opening stanza with David Barger netting 4 points inside, Sam Lindamood, Daniel Foreman and Mark Wheeler all sank treys and Taylor Brubaker added a free throw to give the PATS a 14-9 first quarter lead.

In the second period Foreman would drop in the first 6 points for T-V but Northridge’s big man Terrance Jones countered with 6 of his own inside. Then Billy Williams would drop in a long range three at 2:59 and the score was 20-16.

Lindamood and Wheeler both scored off lay-ups to up the lead to eight but Williams hit a free throw and another three as the buzzer sounded to end the first half with Northridge down by just 4 points 24-20.

In the third period the Patriots would get stickbacks from Barger and Taylor Brubaker and Sam Lindamood would add 5 points. Lindamood’s lay-up at 1:02 gave the Pats a 33-30 lead.

Northridge would get a Williams’s trey and a jumper by Jones as the quarter expired to take their first lead of the game 35-33.

In the 4th quarter the Patriots Sam Lindamood knotted the game with a short jumper. Mark Wheeler would knot the score again at 37-37 at 6:43 with a put back and Daniel Foreman and Lindamood both scored off lay-ups to give T-V the lead 41-37.

Jones countered with another jumper followed by another Barger shot inside. But the Patriot defense went lax on two straight possessions and the player not covered was Birden who buried two straight three’s and at 3:38 Northridge led again 45-43.

Mark Wheeler stepped up with a three ball for Tri-Village to get the lead back 46-45 at 2:16. Jones sank a free throw at 1:53 to knot the score once more 46-46. For the remainder of the quarter neither team could find a way to score. Both teams had a couple of good looks at the basket but were unable to capitalize sending the game into overtime.

In overtime it didn’t take long for Billy Williams to strike firing up a 22 footer to give the momentum to Northridge. But senior Sam Lindamood responded with a short jumper followed by a three to give the PATS the lead back 51-49 at 2:18.

Billy Williams again spotted up from 22 and nailed his fifth trey of the night to go back up 52-41. Big man Terrance Jones got a basket off a good feed at 1:11 and Northridge led 54-51.

Mark Wheeler put in a lay-up with 20 second to play and the Patriots trailed 54-53. A missed free throw by Northridge gave Tri-Village possession of the basketball with 5.2 second to play.

The Patriots were able to get the ball in to Lindamood who was checked hard out front but he was able to shake it and drive the left wing, he pulled up from 20’ but the shot hit the back of the rim and the Patriots fell for the 6th time this season.

“This was a very disappointing loss, we just didn’t come out ready to play,” said Coach Josh Sagester. “We were flat and I really don’t know the reason why, but we have to put this behind us now and get ready for Bethel on Friday night.

Sam Lindamood once again, led the Patriot’s with 19 points. Mark Wheeler added 12 and Daniel Foreman 11 points. David Barger recorded 10 rebounds and 8 points for the game.
