November 2005 – New Madison, Ohio
Josh Sagester, now in his second year at Tri-Village, looks to improve upon his first season’s 11-12 record as varsity boy’s basketball coach. His team set a defensive record at Tri-Village last year giving up just under 50 points a game. Although the team got off to a slow start, they turned the corner in the second half of the year on their way to a good tournament run. In the tournament they upset the number 4 seed to reach the sectional finals.

Gone from last year’s team are Josh Pipenger, Josh Fisherback, Cameron Quinn and Corey Jay. Corey set numerous records at Tri-Village and finished as the second all time leading scorer with 957 points. He is continuing his playing at a division one JUCO program Dawson Community College in Montana.

Two starters return from last year’s team as seniors this year. They are Sam Lindamood and Daniel Foreman. Sam was the second leading scorer last year with 13 points a game. Daniel ran the offense while recording the third best season in assists with 143, many going to Corey Jay in the post.

This year’s team will feature the two seasoned veterans mentioned above, along with senior Taylor Brubaker, all three will share Captains duties this year. Rounding out the team will be juniors Mark Wheeler and Derrick Chowning along with some youth and inexperience in sophomores David Barger, Logan Brubaker and freshman Tyler Greer.

The 2005-06 Cross County Conference has a couple of experienced teams returning. Covington is positioned to be a front-runner as they return all their starters. Also Tri-County North returns one of the few big men left in the league due to graduation along with good guard play as they look to contend for a title as well.

After Covington and North there is a lot of parity with many new faces and unknowns giving many teams a chance to turn some heads and compete for a title.

The Patriots will be a team that just might turn a few heads this year with some of those unknown faces. This is a team that can play in a half court set or get out and run if the opportunity is there. These young men are very hard workers and like to play defense as much as offense which is a key ingredient in winning basketball games. With the right attitude, hard work and mentoring from the experienced players to the youth, this team could very well be a contender at the end of the season.

Good luck and Go Patriots!

Sam Lindamood returns with his high-flying act in 2005-06.
