Sam Lindamood scored at will on the Blazers with a game-high 30 points in the Patriots' 68-35 win over National Trail.

Gettysburg – National Trail High School 12/3/05
After opening up the season last night with a big conference win and holding the opponent to under 40 points you have to wonder if your team can come out the next night with the same intensity for 4 quarters. The senior leadership for Tri-Village wasn’t about to let that happen and it carried over to the younger players as well.

The Patriots opened the game with seniors Sam Lindamood and Daniel Foreman scoring deuces. The next 5 points would come from the youth in David Barger with a free throw and two inside baskets and Tri-Village lead 9-0. The defense of the PATS was stingy to say the least nearly holding National Trail scoreless in the first quarter but with 3 seconds to play Steve Gosnell hit a jumper to get the Trailblazers on the board.

To start the second quarter the young freshman Tyler Greer would score his first varsity basket with a left handed lay-up followed up by Lindamood with a basket and bonus charity toss and at 7:15 TV held a 14-2 advantage. But the Trailblazers answered with their own old-fashioned three points play and then one from behind the arch to cut into the lead 14-8.

But the remainder of the quarter would be dominated once again by the TV seniors with a jumper by Daniel Foreman and 3 points by Taylor Brubaker. Sam Lindamood would pour in 14 points in the quarter with impressive athletic drives to the goal for scores, off free throws and jumpers. But… it was his half court heave with 1 second left to play that found the bottom of the net that had the Patriots stoked heading into the half with a 32-16 lead.

The third quarter would again be the Lindamood show with 9 more points as Trail had no answer to slow him down. David Barger and Taylor Brubaker would add a basket each and TV led 46-28 after three.

In the final stanza five Patriot players scored but the most electrifying was the two hand slam by Lindamood to cap a 30 point effort and giving the Patriots a 68-35 victory and a 2-0 record, 1-0 in the conference.

For the second night in a row Tri-Village held an opponent to under 40 points. It is quickly becoming clear that this team likes to play defense and knows how important it is to winning games.

Coach Sagester commented on how hard the kids worked tonight bringing the same intensity to the floor as the previous night. The look in our kid’s eyes tonight showed they really wanted it.

What can I say about Sam, “he was an animal out there scoring thirty points grabbing rebounds, dishing out assists, going hard to the hole and then taking the jumper when it was there, he really dominated. And Taylor Brubaker gave us such a tremendous effort pulling down 8 boards, scrapping for loose-balls he is such a blue-collar guy and really accepts his role.”

I also thought our young kids really played well tonight. “When Daniel Foreman got in foul trouble someone had to step up. David Barger really played well in the post, like I know he can. Defensively he works hard and the team rewarded him tonight by finding him for some baskets inside. I really felt good about Mark Wheeler getting after it on defense and of course we know he can put the ball in the hole. Derrick Chowning gave us some good minutes and got a couple of blocks and scores. Tyler Greer really gave us some good minutes and scored as well and Logan Brubaker runs the point so well and plays outstanding defense. What another great team effort, this was a good win tonight for our team.”

The Patriots will now have to prepare for the Arcanum Trojans as they pay a visit on Friday December 9th. Arcanum also 2-0 coming in will provide the stiffest test yet for the young PATS early on in the season.

In the JV contest the Patriots lost their second close game down the stretch but battled till the end.
