New Madison Tri-Village High School 2/11/2006
Tri-Village was facing a team that just a few weeks ago held an 11-3 record but recently fell on hard times. The Patriots weren’t about to let Union City get back on track as they blew open a close game in the second half and then held on for their 13th win of the season.
The first quarter would be a close contest with both teams trading baskets throughout. Daniel Foreman paced the Patriots with 9 points in the period and his jumper at 2:17 gave T-V a 13-8 lead. Union City would get 4 more points and Mark Wheeler added two free throws and T-V led after one quarter of play 15-12.
The offenses for both teams slowed down some in the 2nd quarter. Sam Lindamood hit a trey to open the quarter but the Indians scored 6 unanswered points to take a 20-18 lead, their only lead of the night. Sam Lindamood quickly answered with his second-of-four three’s to give the lead back to the PATS 21-20.
A short jumper by Logan Brubaker and a free throw by Tyler Greer capped the scoring for both teams and T-V lead 24-20 at the half.
The third period would prove to be the difference in the game as senior Sam Lindamood hit two more trey’s while dropping in 15 points pushing the Tri-Village lead to 41-24.
In the final stanza the Patriots would use a ball control offense to run clock and try to get some easy baskets. When Taylor Brubaker hit two free throws at 3:16 Tri-Village lead 49-33.
But Union City would foul the Patriots and on two straight trips the PATS failed to convert and the Indians scored seven straight points to get the lead to single digits 49-40.
But over the last minute of the game T-V would go 7-for-8 from the free throw line to seal the game 56-42. On the night Tri-Village shot 80% from the line 20-for-25 while Union City went 10-for-16.
For the second night in a row the Patriots would give a solid effort on the defensive end of the floor. Three Players pulled down 6 rebounds each, Sam Lindamood, Daniel Foreman and Taylor Brubaker.
Lindamood once again paced the PATS with 23 points with Foreman adding 13.
Tri-Village will now take on the Northridge Polar Bears Monday night in a re-scheduled game from last week.
