Sophomore guard Tyler Greer exploded for 17 points to lead Tri-Village over National Trail.

December 2, 2006 – New Madison, Ohio

The Tri-Village Boys Basketball Team took on the National Trail Blazers tonight. In the opening quarter the Patriots were sluggish on defense and shots weren’t falling offensively.

Tyler Greer was the lone Patriot to find the bottom of the nets scoring 7 points off two drives and a three-pointer. The Patriot’s sluggish “D” enabled NT to score 11 points in the opening stanza.

In the second quarter the Patriots switched out of the man-to-man to an extended 1-3-1 zone. National Trail stymied by the switch made numerous turnovers that allowed TV to explode for 22 points in the quarter.

Six different players scored in the period Derrick Chowning, David Barger, Mark Wheeler, Ryan Buck, Tyler Greer and Kendall Stutz.

Stutz scored 9 of his 11 game points in the period off a trey, a couple of drives and two free throws to give the Patriots a 29-11 lead.

Tyler Greer would start the third period they way he ended the half with his 3rd basket from behind the arch and the Patriots were off and rolling again. In fact they scored 35 unanswered points that extended back into the first quarter for Trail. NT final scored at the 4:42 mark but by this time Tri-Village held a 43-13 advantage.

The PATS opened up the offense running the floor at will and got scoring by committee en-route to a 55-19 third quarter lead.

In the final stanza with the game all but decided Tri-Village would finish what they started against the undermanned Blazers to record a 67-26 victory.

Coach Sagester said after the game, “we really got off to a slow start and experienced some cold shooting in the first quarter…but when we decided to play defense in the second period those things changed.”

“When we got it rolling as a team it was a lot of fun to watch,” commented Sagester.

“This win reflects a total team effort, I can name 10 positive things about each of our kids who played tonight.” “We have as much balance on this team as we’ve had since I’ve been here at Tri-Village and teams will have to account for all of them because any of these kids can score,” added the Coach.

Tyler Greer paced the Patriots tonight with 17 points while 3 others Patriots finished with 11 points. Mark Wheeler recorded 6 steals, Ryan Buck pulled down 8 rebounds and Logan Brubaker dished out 7 assists.

Tri-Village runs their record to 2-0 and next up is Twin Valley South in an important conference match-up at West Alexandria.

The Jr Varsity dropped their second straight game by 1 point. Heath West led the way with 15 points.
