Drew Moore scored two points off a fast break and 11 for the game off the bench. Tri-Village went on to win 68-54.

Union City, Ohio - January 12, 2008

The Tri-Village Boys Basketball team took a big step toward a conference crown by taking care of business with back-to-back league game wins over the weekend. Saturday night they took on Mississinawa Valley.

The Blackhawk’s weren’t about to give the game away… in fact they proved to be highly completive for 2 quarters before the Patriots began to find their rhythm on their way to a 68-54 victory.

In the opening period Mississinawa rode the hot hand of senior Ryan Dickey who scored 9 of his team high scoring honors with 18 total points.

Meanwhile the Patriots struggled a little, senior David Barger was able to find success nearly matching Dickey with 7 points in the stanza… but the Patriots trailed after one 13-11.

In the second quarter the Patriots opened it up offensively with Tyler Greer and Drew Moore providing much of the scoring. Greer and Moore both scored 8 points each in the period with both finding the range from behind the arch. MV hung around and a Darren Hiatt put-back ended the half with the Patriots holding a slim 34-32 lead.

Coming out of the half the Patriots stepped up their defensive intensity and slowed down the Blackhawk’s on offense. Greer and Moore continued to score for the PATS… but Ryan Buck began to assert his presence inside as the big fellow scored 12 of his 23 points (game high) as Tri-Village increased their lead to 55-41 in the frame.

Tracy Harris tried to will his team in the second half scoring the majority of his 17 points on the night but the Blackhawk’s were overmatched. The game plan became apparent at the onset of the final period with MV fouling often sending the Patriots to the free throw line.

While the Patriots didn’t shoot a blistering pace for the game (22-for-39) the strategy failed as the Patriots made enough free throws to win it going away 68-54.

Ryan Buck led the Patriots with a big second half inside scoring 18 of his 23 points. Tyler Greer played another solid game registering 20 points from all over the floor. Drew Moore once again provided a spark off the bench with 3 treys for 11 points. David Barger paced the Pats in the first half scoring all nine of his points for the game.

The win raises Tri-Village record to 10-3 overall and 7-1 in conference play. They will be back in action next Friday as they host the undefeated Dixie Greyhounds at 12-0 and ranked 3rd in the state for division III.

The Tri-Village Junior Varsity team remains undefeated 8-0 in the conference with Brett Foreman leading the way with 15 points.
