Ryan Buck worked inside for 26 points to lead the Patriots to a 60-47 league win over National Trail.

New Madison Ohio, December 14, 2007

It was round two for National Trail and Tri-Village as the teams squared off for the second time this year, only this time it would count as a league game.

In round one TV pulled out a 49-43 win but not until late in the 4th quarter. The Trailblazers came in with confidence after defeating Covington and it showed. They were able to hang with the Patriots matching them throughout the first half. However the Patriots were too strong inside and opened up a comfortable lead early in the second half then coasted home for a 60-47 win.

TV opened with a 6-2 lead but National Trail’s Malachi Jones caught fire hitting two consecutive threes to put them up 8-6 at 4:55. In fact Jones would score 10 first quarter points helping Trail to open up a 16-10 lead the last two on a jumper with 12 seconds to play. Freshman Drew Moore answered the trey with 3 seconds to play in the period and Trail led 16-13.

The Blazers continued their hot hand in the second period with Dalton Abner putting in a couple of three balls. Trail went up 21-16 at the 5-minute mark. Tri-Village then got three triples in row, two from Drew Moore, one from Kendall Stutz and within minutes TV had regained the lead 25-21.

The Patriots banged inside behind Buck who scored 10 points in the period… but even then TV led by just one point 31-30. However, Drew Moore would strike for his 4th and 5th trey in the last 30 seconds to play (5 bombs in the half) and TV led 37-30 at the half.

In the third quarter Tri-Village decided to play a little defense and stepped up their effort to close down the open looks Trail was getting in the first half. Tri-Village was then able to use a balanced attack with Buck, Greer, Barger and Tyler Fisherback (two at the buzzer) all scoring in the period to open up a 53-36 advantage.

The Patriots were then able to use solid ball control to close out the game recording the league win.

Tri-Village now goes to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play while National Trail falls to 1-4 and 1-3 in conference play.

Tri-Village was led by Ryan Buck’s 26 and Drew Moore’s 5 treys for 15 points.
