St. Henry, Ohio - January 5, 2008

The High School Boys Basketball season is long and along the way sometimes a team can pick up a win against a better squad… however tonight wasn’t one of those nights. The St. Henry Redskins are 10-1 on the season and ranked 2nd in the area for Division III and showed just why they were deserving of such recognition.

In the opening period the Skins jumped out to a quick 11-0 lead before the Patriots knew what hit them. They then doubled the effort to finish it with 22 points while TV put just six on the board, five from Tyler Greer.

In the second period the Patriots found some success inside with David Barger making a few nice post moves while scoring 7 points in the frame. Kendall Stutz found the range from three but the scoring was limited for Tri-Village while the Skins were raining treys from all over the court. In fact they would make 7 of 11 in the first half alone taking a 41-18 lead.

The Patriots could never get into a flow offensively against the longer St. Henry team who took away much of the inside game of Ryan Buck. The Patriots made a small run in the third period but never really threatened the Skins.

St. Henry was just the better team… 8 different players scored behind the arch from their tallest to their shortest players they all can shoot the basketball. On the night they shot 11-23 from three-point land. Every player scored in the game with the team shooting 50 percent 27-54 from the field while hoisting 20 more shots in the game than TV.

Tri-Village shot 35 percent on 12-34 from the floor and just 50% on 9-18 from the free throw line. It was obvious the team was a little tired from the previous night’s game as they have been shooting at almost an 80% clip from the line this season.

Tri-Village was led in scoring by Tyler Greer with 12 points while David Barger added 10. Ryan Buck pulled down 7 boards to lead the Patriots. The Patriots fall to 8-3 overall on the season and 5-1 in the conference.

In the JV contest St. Henry remained undefeated as they handed TV their second loss of the season falling to 10-2.

A loss is never easy but it can help a team learn, grow and become better. With two league games next Friday at Ansonia and Saturday at Mississinawa Valley there will be no time to dwell on it.
