Drew Moore drops in a fade-away jumper for two of his game high 26 points in a win over Fairlawn.

JANUARY 24, 2009
Fairlawn, Ohio

Tri-Village took to the road for a second night traveling to Fairlawn to take on the Jets in a non-conference contest against a Shelby County League team. The Patriots were coming off a disappointing loss the previous night at Bethel putting them two games down to league leading Miami East.

Tri-Village suffering two straight losses was looking to get back on the winning track. Early on it looked like Fairlawn was going to be the answer as the Patriots raced out to a 16-5 first quarter lead. However, Fairlawn wasn’t about to hand it over, a strong 2nd quarter performance by the Jets kept them trailing by just 3 points at the half. But a strong second half performance by the Patriots propelled them to a 72-52 victory giving them momentum heading into next week.

Tri-Village got off to a fast start in the game led by Drew Moore with 2 three-pointers while Matt Miller dropped in 5 points to lead the Patriots in the opening frame to take a 16-5 lead.

In the second quarter the Patriots relaxed a little on the defensive end allowing the Jets to sneak back into the contest. Tyler Greer would knock down 7 points in the quarter, the last basket at the buzzer to give TV a lead of 30-27 at the half.

In the second half Drew Moore and Tyler Greer would take charge in the game. Moore scored 9 straight points… he would then drop his 4th trey of the night to finish with 12 points in the period. While Moore was doing damage outside Greer was working his way to the rack for 7 points as Tri-Village opened up a 54-42 lead. A desperation heave by Fairlawn from 3/4 court found the bottom of the net and helped keep the home team within striking distance-trailing 54-45 to end the third period.

In the final stanza it was all Tri-Village as they held Fairlawn to just 7 points. Dave Richards knocked down 6 points and Zach Mogle finished off the scoring to end the contest with Tri-Village taking home a 72-52 win, spoiling “Parents Night” at Fairlawn.

Tri-Village got a strong performance from Drew Moore with 26 points and 3 steals. Tyler Greer knocked down 17 points and dished out 7 assists. The win puts TV at 9-6 overall and 6-2 in league play.

In JV action the Patriots let an early lead slip away as Fairlawn would pull away for a 42-32 win. TV’s record falls to 8-7 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
