Tyler Greer and Company found it rough going inside against the Indians at Fort Recovery. Tyler scored 19 hard earned points but the Patriots cold shooting first half spelled defeat 69-55.

Fort Recovery, Ohio

What happens when you shoot just 20% as a team in the first half and the other team shoots 60%? Well the shooting percentage tells a big tale… the Patriots were soundly outplayed in every phase of the game.

Fort Recovery out rebounded Tri-Village by 12 boards in the first half leading to either a run out for a lay-up or a stick-back, which helped the Indian’s field a good team shooting percentage.

Fort Recovery used their size and length to take away dribble penetration and forced the Patriots out on the perimeter while heavily contesting every shot. This resulted in a cold team shooting percentage for Tri-Village in the half.

In the opening half Tyler Greer was able to put 12 points up for TV… but no one else was able to score more than a basket and the Fort held a 42-19 first half lead.

In the second half Tri-Village found the mark shooting 65% from the field including 5-9 from behind the arch to help keep pace in the contest.

However the teamwork of Fort Recovery was solid and the ball movement and extra pass led to a lot of easy midrange jumper shots… again allowing the home team to continue with their hot hand as they would shoot over 60% for the entire game from the field.

Tri-Village would play even with Fort Recovery in the third period as Drew Moore hit on two three-pointers and 8 points in the quarter but the Fort still lead 57-34.

In the final stanza Tri-Village would make a short run with Cody Gunckel scoring 14 of his 15 points on the night in the frame. However the night belonged to Fort Recovery as they closed out the contest with a 69-55 win.

Tri-Village was led in scoring by Tyler Greer with 19, Cody Gunckel contributed 15 and Drew Moore added 11 points for the night. Matt Miller pulled down 5 boards to lead the PATS.

The loss drops TV’s record to 3-1 overall while remaining 2-0 in conference play. They are back in action Tuesday night at West Alexandria to face Twin Valley South in a key conference match-up.

In reserve action Tri-Village pulled out a victory from the jaws of defeat. Down by 8 points with just under 3 minutes to go the Patriots made a run. Aaron Cassel dropped in a three-pointer with 7 seconds to play to give the Pats their only lead of the game 38-37. The lead held up as a last second shot by the Fort fell short.

The Patriots were led in scoring by Craig Dill 13 points and Evan Barger pulled down 8 rebounds. The win raises the Junior Varsity record to 4-0 on the season.
