The Tri-Village Patriots won their 7th League Title in School History.

The Tri-Village Basketball Team concluded the 2009-2010 season at 16-6 overall and an 11-1 conference record. Josh Sagester in his 6th year as the Head Coach has guided two teams to conference runner-ups, two sectional titles and two District Runner-ups. What was missing on his resume was a Cross County Conference Title. It all change this year as the Patriots claimed a share of the Cross County Conference title along with the Bethel Bees.

The Patriots started the season with wins over Bradford, National Trail and Arcanum before losing to Fort Recovery in overtime by two points. Despite the loss to a very talented team led by Findlay bound Greg Kahlig...the game served notice that Drew Moore (36 points in the game) and the Patriots were going to be very competitive team.

The Patriots reeled off 4 more wins in a row starting with league foes Tri County North and Twin Valley South. Then rolled over the Greenwave of Greenville by the score of 59-44, led by senior Cody Gunckel scoring 22 points while capping off the night with a thunderous dunk putting an exclamation point on the win.

The Patriots followed that game up by eclipsing the century mark as sophomore Evan Barger sank two free throws for the 100th and 101st points in a 101-56 win over National Trail.

Standing at 7-1 entering the Jet Holiday Tournament the Patriots appeared to be a favorite going in…but Tri-Village hit a wall dropping both games concluding a 10 game schedule in just 25 days at 7-3.

Tri-Village continued their skid with a tough CCC road game to the always-tough Miami East Vikings.

The Patriots rebounded with a big home win over Covington before dropping a non-conference game to the St. Henry Redskins.

Facing a critical point in the season Tri-Village hosted the Bethel Bees…who going into the year was highly favored to win an outright CCC Title. Led by a great effort from Cody Gunckel 29 points and Drew Moore 24 points the Patriots stunned the Bees for a 62-56 win.

The win reenergized the struggling PATS and they ran the table on the remainder of the schedule with wins over Fairlawn, Ansonia, Dixie, Newton, Mississinawa Valley and Franklin Monroe.

The final game 60-56 win against Franklin Monroe was sweet for two reasons, it avenged a 52-65 loss to the Jets at the Holiday Tournament and gave the Patriots a share of the Cross County Conference title with the Bethel Bees.

The title was the 7th overall for the Patriots the most in CCC history that they also share with Bethel who also has 7 titles.

Tri-Village entered sectional tournament play as the 4th seed with high expectations and defeated National Trail for a 3rd time in the season to advance to the second round.

In the second round TV again faced a familiar opponent, the Arcanum Trojan also the third match-up between the two schools. They played nearly flawless for 15 minutes of the first half…but a few bad plays helped Arcanum to stay close at the half.

Arcanum used that momentum in the second half and was able to win the rubber match between them ending the Patriots tournament hopes and season at 16-6 overall.

Although the Patriots season ended too soon their 11-1 conference record enabled them to capture a CCC League Title ending a 7-year drought going back to 2003.

Graduating for the Patriots are Cody Gunckel, Matt Miller, Evan Catron and Craig Dill.
