Tri-Village had 10 days off to reflect on the heartbreaking loss to Franklin Monroe at the Jet Holiday Tournament the only blemish on their record this year.
That reflection ended up being a nightmare for National Trail as the Patriots shellacked the Blazers by the score of 83-21.
“We had a bitter taste in our mouth after the loss to FM, said coach Josh Sagester. It was a wakeup call for our team that no matter who we are playing we need to go hard and play for the full game and you saw the result of that tonight”, added Sagester.
The Patriots jumped out to a quick 21-3 lead after one quarter of play and then a 46-8 halftime lead.
“We really got after it on defense our guys were hungry to play again and really got it rolling offensively”, commented Sagester.
The Patriots continued to roll in the 3rd quarter expanding their lead to 67-17 while calling off the dogs in the final stanza enroute to an 83-21 league win over the Blazers.
“It’s was nice to get a break…but even better to be playing again, this was a tune-up for the biggest test this team will have next weekend. We go to Miami East on Friday and have had trouble with them the last couple of years. These guys know if we want to win a league title it goes through them,” added Sagester.
“We are ready, our students are ready and our fans are ready…the atmosphere should be electric and it’s why these kids play the game to be a part of something like that, now is the time for them to seize the moment,” continued Sagester.
The Patriots will get a second test on Saturday when they travel to St. Henry.
Tri-Village had 9 players score on the night with Kyle Pipenger leading the way with 19, Shade Brubaker had 15 on 5 treys, Tyler Cook added 14 and Evan Barger 11.
Barger, Cook and Willcox each pulled down 9 rebounds and Matt Werner dished out 8 assists.
