New Madison December 7, 2004
It was a Colonial Battle between the Patriots of Tri-Village verses the Rebels from Randolph Southern. Tri-Village had lost the last three meetings and was looking to exact some revenge.
The Patriots started quickly jumping out to a quick 14-7 lead scoring their first 14 points all within the lane with Brennan Moore, Heather Deaton, and Olivia Frazier all tallying 4 points each.
The Patriots continued their inside assault in the second period many being fast-break baskets. The lone score outside of the lane was a 3 pointer by Karli Dill and the Patriots were off to a great first half leading 30-18.
In the third quarter they maintained their12 point lead with six points by Deaton and another trey by Karli Dill. Leading 39-27 and the Rebels having trouble scoring against the Patriot defense things were looking good for the home team in breaking the three game skid.
In the final stanza both teams would struggle offensively as the game would turn a bit sloppy. A lone field goal by Moore and a strong defensive finish propelled the Lady Patriots to the long sought victory over the Randolph Southern Rebels from Indiana 41-32.
The Patriots were led in scoring by Heather Deaton with 17 points (many on fast breaks) and another strong game was turned in by Brennan Moore with 8 points, 9 assists and 9 rebounds.
“We beat a pretty good Randolph Southern team,” said Coach Maples, “But we have to prepare ourselves for a big league game this Saturday.”
The win gives Tri-Village a 4-3 record overall and 1-0 in the league. The Lady Patriots will be hosting the Covington Buccaneers in a key Cross County Conference match-up in prime-time this Saturday with the junior varsity starting at 6pm and the varsity tipping off at 7:30pm.
In Junior Varsity action Tri-Village won 34-23.
