The Lady Patriots pressured their way to a victory tonight causing numerous Trail turnovers leading to easy baskets. Eight of nine players scored in a balanced effort.
Senior Mary Skidmore got the Lady Patriots on the board first but… the rest of the quarter belonged to the Lady Blazers as they jumped out to a 7-2 lead at 4:41. TV would tie the game 9-9 off Tina Allison’s steal but… a Gibbons basket at the buzzer gave Trail the lead again 11-9.
To start the second quarter Karli Dill sank a three and gave the Patriots the lead back for good. Freshman Allison scored the last 6 points of the half off a stickback, steal and fastbreak basket giving Tri-Village a 24-16 lead.
The third quarter was much of the same as National Trail was having difficulties with the TV press and poor shooting. Olivia Frazier led the way in the third with 6 points with 5 different players scoring and the lead was now 44-29.
In the final stanza Trail would get to within 10 points at 46-36 on a three ball by Gibbons at 6:09 but the Patriots closed out the game winning it 58-46.
“We started slow,” said Coach Maples, “I was pleased with the way our defense picked up their intensity in the 2nd and 3rd quarters but… we need to get that for an entire game.”
Tri-Village was led in scoring by Tina Allison and Olivia Frazier with 12 points each followed by Heather Deaton with 10 points. Brennan Moore again played a solid floor game with 7 assists and 6 rebounds.
In Junior Varsity action Tri-Village won easily over National Trail.
