The T-V Patriots were looking to get back on track after a disappointing game against Middletown Madison on Saturday. Not only did they lose the game, they lost one of their captains and starting point guard Addie Overfield with a season ending knee injury. Her replacement will be sophomore Kassie Fisherback.
The Lady Patriots got off to a slow start in the first quarter having difficulty finding any type of an inside game against the Preble Shawnee Arrows. Senior Brittney Bailey scored 4 in the quarter but T-V trailed 10-7 after one.
In the second quarter Karli Dill nailed a trey for 5 points while Bailey again added 4 more points. The Lady Patriots picked up their intensity on defense allowing just six point to jump into the lead at the half 22-16.
T-V got into an offensive groove in the third quarter with Kassie Fisherback canning a trey. Karli Dill scored 5, Kaley Stahl 4 and Tina Allison 2 as the PATS extended their lead to 36-24.
In the final stanza the Arrows brought the heat in what was a furious comeback. Preble Shawnee scored 23 in the quarter many off turnovers. The Patriots made just enough free throws 7-for-11 in the 4th to hold off and preserve the non-conference victory 49-47.
With Allison and Dill both experiencing foul trouble in the game senior Brittney Bailey stepped up her game to lead T-V with 13 points while Dill contributed 12.
The win moves the Lady Patriots to 5-3 on the season, 1-1 in the conference. The Lady Bees from Bethel will be coming to town on Thursday for a big conference match-up.
