New Madison Tri-Village High School 2/2/2006
Senior Night would turn out to be very special for three Tri-Village Lady Patriot players; Karli Dill, Brittney Bailey and Krystal Barton. A couple players would register career highs in the game while garnering an important conference win against cross county neighbor National Trail.
The first quarter would be a see saw battle with both teams trading baskets throughout but Senior Karli Dill would drop a trey and score 5 points to give T-V a 12-11 lead after one period of play.
To start the second period it would be the play of the other two seniors that would eventually help propel the team forward. Brittney Bailey started with an old-fashioned three-point play. Krystal Barton would then drop in 2 straight 15’ jumpers from the elbow. When she nailed a third at the 4:40 mark T-V led 25-13. Barton would score a career high 10 points on the night.
The Trailblazers would make a short run off a few turnovers to close the gap but the Lady PATS held a 31-22 lead at the half.
In the third quarter Trail would play a man defense that would leave Tina Allison matched up one-on-one on the block. Senior Karli Dill recognizing the mismatch took advantage by dropping the ball down to her for 14 points in the quarter. Dill would go on to register a career high in assists with 10 on the night. Tri-Village led 53-29 after three quarters of play.
In the final stanza the Patriots would lead by as many as 28 points and with the game pretty much in tow Coach Jim Maples would bring each of his seniors off the floor and the crowd gave them a rousing ovation. Tri-Village would go on to post a 68-48 conference victory.
“On this night it truly was special for our seniors’ said Coach Jim Maples. I couldn’t be more proud of their effort tonight. They came out loose, played with enthusiasm and looked like they were having fun. Of course it’s always more fun when you are winning but the results were good.”
“Karli Dill had a career night in assists. She could have said it’s my night and jacked the ball but she recognized the mismatch and fed the ball to Tina like a true team player.”
“Krystal Barton played a super game and hit some shots early to help us gain momentum. She registered a career high in points and though she doesn’t always get much playing time she elevated her status tonight with her solid play.”
“Brittney Bailey just did a super job tonight on defense and she came up with some big baskets and rebounds.”
Coach Maples added, “This is a nice way for our seniors to go out and I’m sure will be a memorable night.”
Tina Allison led all scorers tonight with a huge game inside with 26 points while seniors Brittney Bailey & Krystal Barton each added 10 points.
The win for Tri-Village makes 10 on the season with 9 losses and 6-4 in the conference. Tri-Village travels to Mississinawa Valley next Thursday 2/9/06 for the final conference game before post season play.
