Tina Allison drives by a Houston defender for two.

February 1, 2007 – New Madison

Tri-Village found themselves in a catfight tonight with the Lady Wildcats from Houston. The Patriots won three of the four quarters… but it was the one they lost they spelled the difference. A turnover-plagued, cold shooting second quarter won by Houston 16-2 was enough to hold off TV down the stretch.

In the opening stanza TV spotted Houston 4 points before Amelia Frazier drove for two points. Tina Allison would score the next 6 points in the middle followed by another Frazier deuce to give the Patriots a 10-8 first quarter lead.

In the second period Houston jumped into a full court press and mixed in a 1-3-1 half court trap to throw off the Patriot’s half court offense. The opportunistic Wildcats torched the Patriots for 16 points while holding them to just two points to open up a halftime lead of 24-12.

Tri-Village came out of the locker room in the second half determined to bang the ball inside and was successful enough to close the gap to 35-26 to end the third quarter.

In the final stanza Houston opened up a 13 point lead 41-28with 6:15 to play… but that is when the Patriots scored 10 unanswered points with Kaley Stahl, Kaila Burns, Amelia Frazier, Tina Allison and Jordyn Fisherback all contributing in the run to make is 41-38 with 1:15 to play.

When Kaley Stahl scored two with 28 seconds to play they had closed the gap to one 41-40 and TV called a timeout to set-up their defense. On the ensuing inbounds play Houston snuck up court and a full-length pass gave them an easy score to go up 43-40 with 20 second to play.

Still with an opportunity to tie TV got what they wanted as the ball went inside then kicked out for a trey. The shot was short and Houston held on for a thrilling 45-40 win closing the game with two free throws.

The loss drops TV to 8-10 overall on the season. They will be back in action next Tuesday 2/6/07 for senior night when TV South comes to town.

The Lady Patriots put two players in double figures Tina Allison had 13 and Amelia Frazier 12.
