Tina Allison looks to drive against the Blackhawks "D". She led the Lady Patriots with 11 points despite early foul trouble.

Union City, Ohio – January 18, 2007

The Lady Patriots were coming off a hard fought two-point loss against a highly talented Franklin Monroe Jets team and then an easy home victory over union and trying to ride the momentum in a league match-up with Mississinawa Valley.

Tri-Village got on the board first inside by Jordyn Fisherback… but the Lady Blackhawk’s built up a quick 9-2 lead with scoring from Kristy Moneysmith, a trey by Cierra Saintignon and a 12 footer from Molly Bateman.

Olivia Frazier answered their nine point run with a jumper at 2:50 to make it 9-4. Back-to-back baskets by Moneysmith boosted MV’s lead to 13-4. Shawnda Stamps scored the next three points while filling in for Tina Allison sitting with 2 fouls to make it 13-7.

Miss-Valley got a stick back from Mackenzie Livingston to go up 15-7 after one quarter of play.

The Lady Patriots however stormed back to start the second period as Tina Allison, Kaley Stahl, Amelia Frazier and Kaila Burns all scored in the first 5 minutes. When Stahl put back an offensive rebound at 2:50 the game was tied 15-15. Tina Allison then dropped one in from the elbow to put the PATS up again 17-15.

The Blackhawk’s broke their scoring drought at the two-minute mark on a trey by Bateman to go back up 18-17. Fisherback answered with a trey to get the lead back 20-18. The two teams would then trade baskets and with just two seconds to play in the first half Kelley Livingston netted two free throws to knot the game at 22-22.

In the third quarter the two teams continued the close fought contest in the early going. When Tina Allison converted an old-fashioned three-point play the PATS trailed 30-28. However point guard Kelley Livingston would score on the next three possessions down the court for the Blackhawk’s to open up a 36-28 advantage.

Jordyn Fisherback dropped in her second three-pointer but it was followed up by another Moneysmith goal to end the third period up 38-31. The seven-point margin in the third period would prove to be the difference in the game.

In the final stanza MV opened up the largest lead of the game at 4:34 on a Livingston fast break to make it 45-33. The Patriots made one last surge to get within five points twice but the Blackhawk’s finished it up from the free throw line to win it 52-45.

The win raises Mississinawa Valley’s record to 9-6 overall and 5-4 in conference play. Tri-Village falls to 5-8 overall and 2-7 in conference play.
