Tri-Village knew that the Preble Shawnee Arrows were a struggling team still searching their first win this season. They had no intention of allowing them to find it this evening. Coach Gray wanted to get off to a quick start and that’s just what the Lady Pat’s did.

The Pat’s took the opening tip, which led to a lay-up for Jordyn Fisherback. TV sprang into a full court press, which troubled Shawnee and quickly led to a 10-2 advantage. The Arrows fought back to cut the lead to four at 10-6, but Kaila Burns with the first of five baskets from beyond the arch this night and it was 13-6. Hillarie Frech gets a steal and an assist to Tina Allison extending the lead to nine and the quarter ends with the Patriots holding a 17-6 advantage.

TV opens the second quarter with a basket as Burns finds Fisherback inside for a lay-up. Amelia Frazier steals the ball on the next two possessions and takes it down the hardwood for lay-ups. Another Lady Arrow turnover leads to a Patriot score and the tally was 26-6. Preble Shawnee continues to struggle against the zone defense of the Pat’s, at halftime the Patriots have a comfortable 36-10 advantage.

Coach Gray wanted his team to see the floor tonight and move the ball around as well as get the perimeter game going. The team appeared to be achieving those goals as they scored inside and out in the first half. The Lady Pat’s regularly found the open man in the half court and converted Arrow turnovers into scores.

In the third quarter both teams struggle offensively after scoring on their initial possession. Halfway through the period Tri-Village breaks the ice by scoring on back-to-back possessions. The Pat’s would close the quarter on a 9-3 run and lead 49-15 at the break.

In the fourth quarter Coach Gray would get his underclassmen some playing time. Freshman Chelsey Royer, Sophomores Bre Abney and Shawnda Stamps, would join Hillarie Frech and Tina Allison on the floor. The Pat’s continued the momentum they had found closing the third quarter and finished 16-4 for a final score of 65-19.

“This was a good game for us”, said Coach Brad Gray, “we were coming off of games against two tough teams and will be facing tough opponents in the next two games. Tri-County North is a steadily improving team and South (Twin Valley) has been surprising some people.

Sophomore Kaila Burns hits 5 treys in 3 quarters to lead TV with 15 points. Jordyn Fisherback had 14 point all in the 1st half. Amelia Frazier contributed 6 steals and 6 assists.
