Tri-Village started out the season right winning their own Lady Patriot Bill Burkett Tournament Championship.

The Tri-Village Lady Patriots continued their winning tradition in 2008-2009 finishing with a record of 12 wins and 9 losses. In league play the team concluded with 7 wins and 5 losses. Two of the league losses were teams the Patriots had beat the first weekend of the season that turned out to be the highlight of the year, the Bill Burkett Tournament Title.

The Patriots opened season play with a Bill Burkett Lady Patriot Tournament Championship. It was a tournament many had predicted the Patriots to struggle in... but impressive play by freshman Kayla Linkous would catch many off guard as she garnered the all tournament MVP award while serving notice to the rest of the league she was a player.

Tri-Village also served notice that they would be a competitive team, not to be taken lightly. They would complete the first half of the season with a 6-4 record and a 1-3 conference mark. Losses to Ansonia, Bethel and Miami East dug a hole for the young Patriots if they were going to challenge for a conference title. A bright spot was a win at home against Covington.

In the second half of the season Tri-Village played well in league play... while struggling in non-conference action. The Patriots posted a 6-2 conference mark with wins over National Trail, Tri-County North, Twin Valley South, Bradford, Mississinawa Valley and Newton, while dropping a close game to Arcanum and Franklin Monroe.

With two non-conference losses the team finished the second half of the season with another 6-4 record and overall a 12-8 regular season. Their 7-5 conference mark wasn't enough to challenge for the title.

Tri-Village then took on a surging and improved National Trail squad in sectional tournament action… a team the PATS had beat twice in the regular season. The Blazers played inspired and were able to knock of TV and send them home early to end their season with a 12-9 overall record.

Despite the early exit from tournament play Coach Brad Gray has plenty to be excited about. His team had little experience with no seniors on the squad. He will have all of his players returning next year and that should give him plenty to smile about.

The Patriot's were led for the year by freshman Kayla Linkous scoring an incredible 21.8 points a game. She also led the team in rebounding at 12.2 per game and total steals with 56 for the year.

Kaila Burns drained 49 three-pointers on the year to lead the PATS from the outside, while Hillarie Frech dished out 79 assists to lead the floor game.

These three key players will return for the Patriots next year along with Adriana Finkbine, Chelsey Royer, Bre Abney, Kylie Thomas, Brittani Abney, Hallie Mikesell and Taylor Collins.

Freshman Kayla Linkous stepped in to lead Tri-Village on the season with 21.8 points a game for the 2008-2009 season.
