Teha Richards scored 13 points and spearheaded the defense that held Bethel to just 2 points for 3 quarters and went on to a 62-11 CCC win.

12/15/11 – Brandt, Ohio

The Tri-Village Lady Patriots after a 9-day layoff from the hardwood was glad to be back in action traveling to take on Bethel.

The Patriots jumped out on top of the Lady Bees in the opening quarter taking a 23-2 lead. What appeared to be a good start was bit misleading. It was obvious the long layover affected their shooting…but due to a strong full court press the Patriots were able to get some easy scores.

Shaye Thomas led the charge with 3 lay-ups off steals to score the first 6 points of the game. The Patriots took turns with different players scoring in streaks. Teha Richards pick up the pace off the break…then it was Krystal Falknor knocking down a couple of jumpers and finally freshman Echo Brown as the Patriots went up 23-2.

The Patriots slowed a bit in the second period scoring just 10 points but they posted a goose egg on the Bees holding them scoreless and led 33-2 at the half.

The third quarter was a repeat of the 2nd as T-V again pitched a shutout to extend their lead to 50-2.

In the final stanza with the game all but decided, except the final score, Bethel was able to score 9 points, eventually falling to the Patriots by a final score of 62-11.

“It’s really unfortunate for us to have this long layover,” said Head Coach Brad Gray. And with two big league games in row coming up at Covington and then Miami East we really needed to get a full game in so that our kids were able to get back into the flow.”

“A game like this doesn’t help prepare us for the next couple of games…but we were glad to be playing and hope we shook off the rust”, concluded Gray.

Tri-Village had 3 players score in double figures led by Teha Richard with 13 points, followed by Lexie Bruner with 11 and Krystal Falknor with 10.

The Patriots travel to Covington on Saturday in a key CCC Match-up with the Lady Buccaneers.
