Tri-Village hosted an improved Bradford team…but the Railroaders had no answer for stopping Kayla Linkous inside or the defensive pressure led by Teha Richards.
Bradford was unable to get in a flow offensively as Teha Richards and Shaye Thomas forced the Roaders into a faster pace keeping them off balance. Offensively the Patriots got 40 points from Kayla Linkous and Tri-Village rolled to an easy 82-32 CCC win.
The Patriots got off to a good first quarter start with Linkous scoring 13 points.
Bradford rallied hitting a couple of 3 pointers one by Courtney Miller and another by Haley Patty along with a few stickbacks…but they still trailed at the end of the first period 23-9.
Linkous scored 20 points in the first half as the Patriots expanded their lead to 42-17 at the half.
Linkous then exploded for 20 points in third quarter doubling her first half effort on the way to a game high 40 points.
While TV had It rolling offensively it was the defensive effort that stood out. They took it to another level in the 3rd frame as Teha Richards and company relentlessly pressured Bradford holding them to 6 points on their way to building an impressive 67-23 lead.
With all the starters sitting in the final stanza the entire Patriot team saw plenty of action and coach Gray liked what he saw.
“We are working on trying to make a long tournament run and we need to be deep. I like the energy and effort we are getting from all of our team. We challenged our reserve players to win the final stanza and they did, that’s how you get better,” said Gray.
Tri-Village won the final stanza 15-9 en route to an 82-32 win.
“Tonight we had a huge size advantage inside and took advantage getting 50 points from our bigs,” said head coach Brad Gray.
“Our offense starts with good defense and tonight is started with Teha Richards out front along with Shaye Thomas. They do a great job of speeding up the game and getting the other team out of sync,” added Gray.
“We generate a lot of easy baskets from our defense and no matter who plays we expect that type of energy and effort from all our players,” continued Gray.
Tri-Village placed 3 players in double figure scoring with Linkous scoring 40, Richards 12 and Falknor 10.
Brooke Dunlevy who didn’t play in the first half led Bradford with 11 points all in the second half.
Tri-Village runs their record to 13-1 overall and 7-1 in conference play, while Bradford falls to 5-10 and 3-6.
In Junior Varsity action Tri-Village won by the score of 29-17 with Raya Mikesell scoring 12 points.
